Legends End a Long BUT Successful 8 Game Homestand……

The Lexington Legends baseball team just completed a “SUPER” fantastic homestand out at the Orchard as they hosted both the Charleston RiverDogs and the Savannah SandGnats. The Legends were 2 and 8 in eight days and hit the road Tuesday to travel down to take on the ‘Dogs again in Charleston…Let’s wish them all the best luck while on the road. Come back with some wins! On the mound for the Legends, for Wednesday’s night game will be Brad Dydalewicz.

Brad Dydalewicz.jpgFollow the game on the radio at 1300 WLXG AM as Legends radio announcer Keith Elkins will broadcast the game beginning at 6:45pm.

I mentioned how we had a great homestand, well I have some pictures below that back that up…

The Legends were pleased to have none other than UK basketball standout, Patrick Patterson make an appearance at Applebee’s Park to throw out a ceremonial first pitch. He brought a few friends along with him as you can tell…new and current UK Basketball players…Daniel Orton, Kevin Galloway and Matt Pilgram. They all stopped by on our Thirsty Thursday and I’m sure loaded up on all those dollar…Pepsi’s!

Thumbnail image for 4427_576195657603_48200609_34080623_4543092_n.jpgSaturday, was our annual IncrediPet Bark in the Night and we had over 300 dogs and thousands of fans who invaded Applebee’s Park to be apart of the festivities. Jake the Diamond Dog also was out and about and “wooed and wowed” the crowd at Applebee’s Park as those Legends hosted the Savannah SandGnats.

Sunday, the Lexington Legends also hosted its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day where we were able to raise over $3500 in proceeds for the event to go to the UK Markey Center. The Legends players wore pink pinstriped jerseys like the one myself and our on-field announcer Mykraphone Mike are modeling. Also with us below is Vicki Blevins. She is the Director of Kentucky Pink Link. This community organization is only about a year old but does sooooo much to help out folks affected by this serious and very terrible cancer. Check out their website to learn more: www.kypinklink.com

We ended this fantabulous homestand on Monday, May 18th with our Education Day/Mascot Olympics. And guess what!?!?!…We had wild and crazy crowd of 6,000+ students, teachers and baseball fans who all got to watch the Legends “DO WORK” and win the game 3-2 over the SandGnats. We had some cool friends walking around the orchard as you could tell too. Fun fun times all around.

Education Day 002.jpg The Legends return to baseball action here at Applebee’s Park on Friday, May 29th. The night caps off our unusual but still cool, four-day homestand against the Augusta GreenJackets. It’ll be Cartoon Character Night here. Don’t miss your all favorite cartoon and movie characters such as Cinderella, Snow White, the Simpsons and MORE when they visit the Legends game. Meet all your favorite characters and get autographs, pictures and fun throughout the game as they roam Applebee’s Park. Then stick around after the game and watch the best fireworks show in town brought to you by ADI!

Legends Get Rocked While on the Road…

Our Lexington Legends started off super hot while down in Augusta taking on those GreenJackets, winning the series four games to one. But, it was a different story in the next few games as the Romes Braves roughed up our hometeam, sweeping the Legends in four straight games. Even with the four losses though, the Legends, still hold a share of 1st place in the Southern Division in the S.A.L. league. With a combined record of 17-13, the Legends are tied with division rival the Greenville Drive.

Albert Cartwright.jpgAlso, some bad news to report on the homefront…the Legends lost one of their all-stars during these last set of games due to injury. Second baseman Albert Cartwright will be out for several weeks because of a broken bone in his left forearm, suffered when he was hit by a pitch in Sunday’s (5/3) game. Infielder Andy Simunic joined the Legends from extended spring training and now is in the lineup.

Applebee’s Park will be hosting another 8-day homestand beginning this Monday, as the Legends hook up with the Charleston RiverDogs in a four game set. Tonight, (Monday) actually happens to be Kids Eat Free night, where ALL kids 12 and under get to come to the ballpark and get a voucher for free dinner thanks to our good friends at Members Heritage Federal Credit Union.

During this homestand, the Legends have ALOT of cool things happening…on Friday, May 15th…Dora the Explorer ventures to Applebee’s Park. You can be apart of an exclusive meet and greet with Dora for only $15. Call the Legends box office for details at 859.422.RUNS.

Then on Saturday, May 16….it’s our annual IncrediPet Bark in the Park night.

Saturday, April 25th = Legends Return Home

Well, welcome into yet another edition of Diggin’ In to the Legends with SuperMario.

The Lexington Legends baseball team have been on the road since early Tuesday and have once again started racking up on those W’s. The Hickory Crawdad have hosted the Legends and have fallen with scores of 4-3 and 3-0. The Crawdads, a Texas Rangers affiliate, did whip up on our Legends during the first meeting on Monday. The last game of the four game set actually is today (Friday). Let’s cheer OUR team on. You can do so by logging onto www.lexingtonlegends.com OR listening to Legends announcer, Keith Elkins, as he broadcasts the Legends LIVE on the radio, on the flagship station, WLXG ESPN 1300 AM.

stuff 001.jpgThe Lexington Legends had a very busy day at Applebee’s Park as the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) held a press conference just outside of the Makers Mark Club, with Lexington mayor, Jim Newberry announcing how the city of Lexington has partnered up with the Legends to help educate the community of how it’s important to “Go Green.”

stuff 002.jpgAlso Friday morning, our friends at Courtesy Acura Pontiac taped their 30minute show “Courtesy on Wheels” featuring Dan and Megan just outside of Applebee’s Park. Alan Stein, Big L, Little L and PeeWee all made SWEET cameo’s in the taping, so be sure to catch the show sometime this weekend or late night during this upcoming week.

hotrods.jpgThe Legends are back in action Saturday, April 25th as they host new in-state rival, Bowling Green Hot Rods. Should be an interesting throwdown as this will be the first-meeting EVER. The gates open at 6pm SHARP, and the first 1,000 fans through the gates will walk away with a pretty sweet gym bag and at the end of the game, we’ll have a fantastic fireworks show after the game. Get EXCITED.

LateNight.JPGIf you miss the game…Shame on you…hahha, just joking. But, make sure after Saturday’s game or ANY Legends home game…you can catch me, SuperMario on Late Night with Legends. It’s a post-game show where myself and Maura Kennedy, one of our Group sales reps, recap the game, have a player interview, play of the game, on-field promotions and a look to the next game.

You can find it  all on www.lexingtonlegends.com, or you can see it on our LegendsNation Youtube account, right here: www.youtube.com/profile?user=LegendsNation

When you make it out for a game this week, look for me, when you find me…tell me “HELLO” and let us/me know what we can work on.

Until then

Thirsty Thursday is HERE!!!

beer.jpg

PEPSI.jpg

So, today is Thursday….which mean’s it’s THIRSTY THURSDAY here at Applebee’s Park. The gates open in EXACTLY one hour from now (6pm) and the first pitch will be thrown at 7:05pm. If you’re coming to the game…and I’m sure you are…Beer’s are only $1 and Pepsi is the same…$1.

RUSS.jpg
The Lexington Legends host the Kannapolis Intimidators in the final game of the series. Your hometeam was hot, but the White Sox affiliate has cooled the Legends down and have won 2 out of the 3 games. Tonight’s starting pitcher for the Legends is Russ Seaton. He hails from Sugar Land, Texas and is 1-0 so far on the mound with a 1.80 ERA in five innings of work.

Hopefully, the Legends will get some solid, sure-fire pitching from this stud, and the Legends winning ways can start back up.

Come on to the game….it’ll be a blast as well as Fun and Games…Just Add You!

See ya there!

until next time,

keep it SUPER fans!

Legends Win Again…Start Season 4-0.

Fun and Games….Just Add You, definitely was the theme of the night for Legends fans in attendance for Opening Night 2009 at Applebee’s Park.

The pre-game festivities had a small little “snag” due to the wicked KY weather….a few things had to be tinkered with, the tarp had to be taken onto and off the field…and the first pitch that was originally scheduled at 7:05pm, didn’t take place until 7:45pm….but, all in all…the night went swell and everyone throughout the ballpark brought their A-game, as the Legends brought down the house with a 2-1 win over the Kannapolis Intimidators.

And, if you weren’t in attendance, you definitely missed out.

First of all, it was Kids Eat Free Night at the ballpark, which meant all kids 12 and under were able to receive a free hot dog or hamburger, chips and drink, sponsored by Member’s Heritage Federal Credit Union, which takes place EVERY monday.

As mentioned in the last couple of blogs…we had TWO, GM Guarantees…

60 Degree Guarantee:  if the temperature is UNDER 60 degrees at the time of
the first pitch EVERYONE in attendance gets a “rain voucher” for another
game in April11227682_0f70b4e1d9.jpg
Well, guess what??? The temperature at the first pitch turned out being….58 ******** degrees. SO…that’s why I said it was good to be at the game, ALL fans, who were in attendance for Monday’s game received that really sweet voucher.

The dollar days promotion sponsored by 1-800-PACK-RAT, though has officially ended was a big hit.

ph_518478.jpg The winning pitcher for Monday night’s game was….

And, boy…did he do a great job on the mound…he helped the Legends roll-over those Intimidators.

The Legends look to keep the streak going and go win for number 5.

hot_dog_2.pngIt’s Quarter Hot dog night, Tuesday and the gates open at 6:00pm with the first pitch being thrown down at 7:05pm.

If you’re at the game Tuesday, I mean, WHEN you’re at the game…please come find me and tell me HELLO and let me know how we’re doing!

That’s all…

until next time,

keep it SUPER

-Mario

Happy Easter!!!!

Legends Win Opening Game!!!

Under the sure fire pitching, from first-year Legends player, Jordan Lyles
Jordan Lyles.jpg , the Lexington Legends picked up win number one of the year against border rival, the West Virginia Power. Lyles, originally from Hartsville, South Carolina lasted about 5 innings and gave up only 5 hits, 2 runs and struck out 3. With that solid pitching, Lyles helped the Legends win 5 to 4.

The Legends are back in action, TONIGHT (Friday) against the West Virginia Power. The first pitch will be thrown down at 7:05pm. Be sure to listen in to Legends Radio Broadcaster, Keith Elkins as he’ll bring you every pitch and every score on the Legends Radio Network, ESPN RADIO 1300 WLXG.

Legends Roster Announced…Coach Cal With a Legends Cap? 5 days till OUR big day!

mar.jpgHey Legends FANS.

For the millionth time, my apologies for the slight delay in keeping the “world famous,” top blog in all of minor league baseball updated.

As expected, the hustle and bustle of getting everything ready for Opening Day is upon us and I tell ya what…my head along with the rest of the Legends front office is definitely starting to spin like crazy. But, it’s all normal and comes with working within the entertainment industry, and more specifically, minor league baseball.

For those that, might have been playing around on the Legends homepage…(www.lexingtonlegends.com), you might have noticed the Legends congratulating the new coach of the UK mens basketball team, John Calipari. The day, that “Coach Cal” was introduced as the new head man of Big Blue Nation, myself along with two interns dressed as baseball players made our way to the Joe Craft Center and huddled with the Big Blue faithful and waited on the new ball coach to leave his press conference. Well, luckily he did indeed come out and I presented him with an official Legends baseball hat, which you can see below.
